Comment: There has been recognition of the importance of the human microbiome and human as super-organisms integrating the identity, function and immunity of resident bacteria, while prepared throughout own innate and adaptive immune systems, to deal with invading organisms. In the model of I-Cubed, illness is evoked when infection evoked altered immunity is the source of inflammation.
